oh, lucky. i am fully ready for this. ;D
got stacks of tanks, that have been runnign for a while now, with theheater/filter
the angels are in my 250litre tank.
i got 4 50 liter tanks for raising the fry in
ive never seen angels breed so il tell you what they do, u tell me if its normal lol
they spend the time swiming around as normal now. the female (one in the pic) will come to the leaf like once/twice every minute and fan the eggs (i know thats normal) how ever she doesnt sit there and constantly fan them, just stops by every now and then.
the eggs, i heard, are white if they are infertile. do those look too white? or will they start to go see thro later after they have been fertilised for a while. (thye dnt look all THAT white, i mean, u can see the leaf thro it,)
the male, is double the size of the female LOL shouldnt matter i think.
the male doesnt tend to do much. female still alows him near the eggs and all, but shes generaly doing everything (and i must say, she knows what she is doing o.0 ) shes fanning the eggs in that picture.
thats about it. once they are free swiming, i will siphon them out useing an airpump tube thing and put them in one of the 50 litre tanks.
feeding? well..i wasnt ready for this...but luckly i know of someone who breeds these type of fish. (cichlids?)
ill get some food off him ^^
so its all good for now. hoping nothing happens when i wakeup tomorow...
ohh, and they are alone in the 250litre tank so no catfishes etc to eat the eggs at night

hmmmm. day 2 some eggs are white white lol. u can really see the difference. the female is always wanting to take care of the eggs. shes good, i cant complain. shes always there and comes when the male comes too close to the eggs. shes always looking after them. really cool to watch anyway. one thing she fails to do is clean the eggs. she's ment to eat the infertile white ones i think. she done so to a few but not the rest. the rest have got fungus, and it sread to nearby eggs. whenever the male aproaches (btw, the male is 2 times the female [may have said that before]) he comes to clean the egss, the female chases him away before he can do so but other then that its ok, theres still a good 30 eggs i would say that are not effected, and even the ones with fungus may be ok(heard the eggs are resistant to it?) anyway, cant wait to see what awaits me tomorow the pair are cleaning yet another leaf. one right oposite to the one they spawned on last....they must be slightly too horny..

Hi Tidus great Pics. I have never bred angels before so cant tell you what is expected behaviour etc. I have heard that methylene blue is often used to help prevent eggs getting fungus with many fish so you could maybe look further into that. There is also a thread re Angel breeding journey in the Ausfishforums which you might find interesting. thanks for sharing. I hope you get some babies. cheers sammi

i left the eggs with the mums, they didnt eat it, im 100% sure but they had all broken up when i turn the light on day 3, there was a few bits of eggs left on the leaf and a few white ones
i had THOUGHT they ate them so i removed the leaf they layed them on next time around (ohh yea they spawned again, the last spawning was 6 days ago!!! ;D)i put the eggs in a guppy breeder thing, and put that on the back of the tank under the filter to create a curret on the eggs (u need that)
so againl, day 2 some turned white, day 3 all where white and a few had started to break off the leaf, leaving behind a few peices of egg. there was no sign of fry etc either.
so im not sure whats happening there
infertile eggs go white..i may have a sterile male? =( or he just doesnt know what he is doing??
i managae dto watch them both the times they spawn
the female lays the eggs, the male folows behind and touches the eggs like his ment to with his breeding tube. *shrugs*

That's so cool!!
I love angels, but they often die under my care... I didn't want to keep killing them so I gave up...

they are looking like guppy fry now. still wiggling and doing nothing else
its amazing to look at them now, and think, 5 days ago they where a ball with a tail sstciking out.
over the past few days i can visualy see the eyes developing and the fins. the other organs i cant see but its till pretty cool. theyre eyes look fully developed now, white with a black dot in the middle. as for there fins, still a bit tiny.
i seperated some from the perants, incase they ate them. i left the perants with 17 ish. i counted 15 today. loss of 2 fry in 5 days is good i recon. the other 40 or so fry are in anohter tank. a bad bad bad bad move to move them. lots of em are dieing, and it turns out my filter in there, running for over a month, still cant handel nitrite -.-
bit late tho...i have like 1-2 deaths a day. its not TOO bad, im changing the water often too.
ill get some close up pics of the fry.
they should be swiming by tomorow ^_^

sucky picture but..yea these r the ones wiht the mum/dad (not all of em) and theres a filter nearby. >.< gota quickly get them when they start to swim. ------------------------------------------------- heres pic of the couple, the male is rather large, almost 2 times the female.(the pic turned out great btw) heres the male, u may notice a bit of damage on him. it happened at the pet shop, where the 2 couples, male being as big as my hand, along with 4 other fisht hat size where in a tank not any bigger then 50 litres... :/ and the female yes i have a slight algea problem atm..
