Just thought I'll share some of the photos of my guppies with the board!
These 2 fish were from a bag of guppies that were given to me... I think they are the possible parents of my first fry...
I saw this little guy at the LFS, they call him 'endler', I'm not sure if they labelled him correctly because I couldn't find any images of this fish on the net... anyone know if it's an endler??? I'd love to breed him and get some fry off him!
He is another one I spotted at the LFS and couldn't resist!! I would of bought 2 but he was the only one left... I wonder if he'll give me any fry as well...
This little guy is my first fry, I can't wait for him to frow up and see who his daddy/mummy is!!
[/i] ____________________________________________________ 5th May - Edited to add: I just got my new endlers settled a bit, they arrived on Monday afternoon and showed signs of white spots. Now that they're gone, I can show them off here!! [/i] Quick glance at the tank: New Arrivals: Girly Endler: I woke up early one morning, and turned on the lights, my fish were all sleeping!! Hi Lady, very pretty little fishies... Yes the first one definitely looks like an endler.... which technically means he is not a guppy although endlers will breed with guppys and the result is a hybrid. the second one looks like a possible hybrid endler or it could also be a throwback to the wild guppies that you sometimes get when different lines of guppies breed without any thought to genetics etc. I have some of these in my tanks. Alot of people will encourage you to keep endlers and guppies separate so as not to "muddy" up the genetics as they are technically different species. for info on endlers you can look at this link... eric.petfish.net/endlers.htmand google "endlers guppy" and see what you can find.. I hope that helps. oh and the first two you were given are definitely guppys. ps they are beautiful fish. cheers sammi

Arh ha! Glad to know he's an endler afterall.
I have been giving thoughts to separate them to another tank and have an endler tank only, sad thing is, I can't find any female endlers at the lfs. One of the lfs I often visit told me that people don't usually sell female ones because breeders tend to keep females to themselves.
I'm off to read that info. on endlers~~ Thanks heaps!!

It is often the case that it is difficult to get female endlers. I do know one of our members in tassie has some trios that she breeds. Maybe she could help you. Her name is Bumblebee. cheers sammi

I've seen that name on a number of forums! Anyhow, I actually got myself some female endlers yesterday - came across an endler breeder in Brisbane and lived nearby! I'll post pic very soon!

sorry I cant tell you that for sure... but they do look like real ones to me. They will usually be smaller than your standard male guppy so that is one way to tell. I dont know about the female ones but I assume that they would be smaller too. Hopefully someone else will be able to tell you.

hmm.. they are smaller in size, just that on different websites each has a different 'definition' to what endlers should be.
anyhow, I think they're gorgous little fishies but hopefully I can find out more about them!

what do other sites say? I would be interested to see. All I know really is that they are often mistakenly thought to be a guppy but are actually a different species. that they are smaller, that it is hard to get females. I also know that their are a few different colour strains but I dont know much else. cheers

Have you came across Ender R Us forum?? If not, check this forum out: endlersr.us/index.phpI think they're all hardcore endler breeders - have very strict rules to what endlers should be.

I would say that these guys probably/definitely know much more than I do about endlers. So you probably should go with what they define an endler to be. You can usually tell who knows what they are talking about and who doesnt if you look closely.
I would think that true endler breeders would definitely be against hybridising because of the fact that it is so hard to distinguish between the hybrids and the true endlers so it can really muddy up the genetic pool.
