Hi All. Some of my guppies. Halfback female. The male wouldn’t keep still but is the same just blacker. These are a short round tail strain. Moscow blue male. Pic does not do this fish justice. It glows blue in the aquarium. White tuxedo ribbon fin male. Red tail ribbon fin pair. Note the fins on the female. They have the long trailers as well. Cheers D

Great pics....... now share how you got them so clear... I take 500 photos and not one is crystal clear like yours. Lovely gups, well done.

some great ribbons there. have you managed to start breeding them from your ribbon females?
dont suppose you could give some tips on how its done? I understand the males cannot breed because the gonipodium is so oddly shaped. that the females are the only one you can breed with, but the gene is recessive. how do you get around that problem ?

They are not sterile, simply their gono is so deformed they cant do anything with it .

Thanks for the complements, I go some stunning deep blue, Blond and Sunset guppies as well so I'll try and take some pics of them.
OK, for the pics I have set up a small betta tank that I take my pics in and some good lighting. My camera is a Fuji 5000 3.4 meg . This and a lot of patience.
Breeding the ribbon fins: you need to get young males before they develop their fins, or use the Geno type males from the spawns. You will always get some male that will not develop the fins but carry the genetics, so they are the ones you use. As was said the Pheno type males are unable to breed due to the gono length.

Have a book somewhere where they have a special tank just for photos, it is a kind of insert that is about 4cm wide and quite long. the fish can only face one way, you just put them in for a few minutes while taking a pic.
Looking forward to those sunset gup pics!
