Hard to get settled but hardy once they get used to your water and tank. They seem to stress quite badly when moved although I had no trouble with mine. They need a big tank as they can get around 50cm eventually. My little fella was handfeeding the day after I got it. It likes following my hand around the tank when I am moving things. they are like slimy little puppies.

The newest baby: How could anyone go past those big froggy eyes! the poor mans zebra (clown pleco) looking a little cranky while he waits out the 1 hour acclimatisation.

Just got the little guy Id'd as it didnt look like the clown plec (L162) pictures. Turns out it is a butterfly Plec instead (L168).
A much nicer little guy as it stays the lovely black and white colour. These will set you back around $45-$60

Nice little L168. I couldn’t go past these guys either but mine are L052. I've got 8 of them. They are between 8 and 13cm in length.

Gorgeous fish. Do you have any tips for their care? I can find little if any info. My little guy is already out and exploring and eating. There was a female at the lps that I am seriously thinking about buying too. From looking around the net I suspect mine may be L052 as well. the feisty little monster trying to eat my gibby. I think he is biting off more than he can chew!

From your second pic it looks like you have a L168. The L168 are more yellow were the L052 are white. The L052 change colour a lot, they go to the fright pattern very quickly ( top pic of mine) and that has given them the common name of a camelian peckultia. I’ve noticed that they are not that keen on algae cleaning like other plecos are. They like dimly lit, soft water with timber and I had a lot of trouble getting them to eat initially but they went nuts over brine shrimp flake and haven’t looked back since. Breeding is the same as for normal BN.
