its only been very recent that they are cheap. several months ago I was going to order some in but they were $45 each, about twice as much for a nice pair. I also picked up a 19.95 pim pictus and a baby ghost-knife fish for $14.95. Usually they are all hideously expensive where I live. prices for more unusual fish have dropped in the last 6 months.

strange how prices of these fish are going down. a few years ago you wouldnt see them for less than $30, the other expensive fish were ones like pictus, hoplo, BGK, Upside down catfish, the prices have dropped on all of them.
I think with black ghosts, anything under 15cm is a juvenile, as they can breed at 15cm, but they get to 40cm eventually and like to eat small fish. will need to get another tank before then, love the little ones though as they follow you around the tank like a puppy when your fixing stuff up inside. ;D

thankyou. I love gibbys although they are poop machines and grow too quick. he has gone from 12cm to 22cm in about 3.5 months. their favourite food seems to be 3cm chunks of zuccini that have been microwaved for 60sec so they sink. This guy plus the 8 or so bristlenose go through half a zuccini a night.

Nice fish all round. These are a couple of discus growing up at home. I’ve got an 8 foot tank in storage waiting to find room to bring it home to use as a display tank for the discus. Red Melon Group cheers

bumblebee thanks for the hint re: microwaving zucchini.... I feed mine zuchini too but I always stuck it in raw so it floats and I have to wedge it between rock etc.... M/wave will be the go from now on..

To stop the zuchinni/cucumber/whatever floating, get a rock and an elastic band, place the food on the rock and secure it with the elastic band. I use to do this when I had my cichlids.
Cheers
