realy happy gups have clear eys ( silver ring with a black dot in middle.) but gups who arnt happy will have black eyes. i heard this is because the fish when happy relaxes and the eye monucals relaxes which reflects light, causing it to look clear where as a stressed fish wouldnt have relaxed monucals so that they will not reflect light, giving them a black apearance.
