hm been of for a while so ill post some stuff lol Ceratophillum demersum: i dont know its common name (sorry) and the conditions need for its growth (maybe someone can post that information for me?) anyway i learnt that amazinglin this plant releases stuff in to the water that green algea dont like! no more green algea yay( sorry not clear on the details and um not sure what the plant releses but its safe for fish)

have used it in tanks for a while. needs a lot of light and good ferts to grow well, also needs frequent trimming when growing. if it is not getting enough light it gets smaller from the growing tip and then the growing tip suddenly dies, can also get very leggy before this happens. the common name is 'cabomba'. It doesnt actually release any chemicle that inhibits algae (I have personally grown it in greenwater ponds) but rather absorbs nutrients they need to grow, also directly absorbs ammonia and nitrite .

ok. but it does prevent algea growth in indoor tanks right? (i know out door ponds will be hard to get into an algea free state because of the sun.)

yes, it will compete with the algae for nutrients in the water.
