it is good at absorbing ammonia and nitrite directly from the water so can be good this way. unfortunatley it can cover the surface and stop oxygen getting to the fish if there is too much causing water to stagnate. it also rapidly absorbs calcium carbonate causing ph drops (this can be prevented by adding shellgrit to a tank and removing excess weed. good if you know how to use it!

i disscard the duckweed if it grows too much. it only covers 1/4 of my tanks surface + and my fish love nibbleing on them. is the antibiotics thing true?

I am unsure. about the only fish I have that actually eats it is my goldies, and gups very occasionally.

Lol. This still doesnt answer the antibiotics question? if the duck weed do make it is it released into the water or must it be consumed by the fish?
