I know this is a guppy forum but Im hoping someone will be in "the know" here as I trust all the advice here. I have a bubble eye goldfish. perfectly active, eating well. Tank is cycled, PH fine, weekly water changes. I noticed last night he had 2 or 3 white dots on his head. Maybe a little bigger than a pin head. It doesnt appear to be anywhere else or on any of the other 3 fish. They dont APPEAR to be cotteny looking. Do you think this may be fungal or bacterial. I put a teaspoon of salt in the tank as soon as I saw it, but he looks the same tonight. Any advice? (Goldfish tank, non heated) Thanks for any help on this

Are the white spots around its gill area?
is it a 'chaser', often following around the other goldfish?
if so it may just be a teen male goldie, especially if the spots are just around the gill/face and nowhere else. males will show spots at this time of year (autumn) when theyare old enough to breed. they look like little pimples, almost like ick but if the goldie is otherwise in good health then there is nothing to worry about.
look up goldfish breeding to see if you can find some pics.

They look just like that but on what I call the side of his/her forehead. I will see if I can get a pic. he does follow one of his tank mates....a 12cm red oranda and the bubble eye is 9cm.

hope he does well. if the one he is following is big and fat and you have a very large tank, might be worth trying to spawn them. Most people use a new mop head or something similar that they will spawn on.
