Karma is like if some one helps you out or some thing you click on the exalt link and it adds a point to their karma so others can see they have been kind or helpful. by clicking smite it takes on point away so like if they were abusing ppl or something. book marking a thread leaves a memory type thing on your comp so instead of re-searching for it you just go to the tag thing and straight to the thread good if its a topic that contains a lot of info or if you need to recheck info

as above.
Karma is a system built into the board where people can add or subtract points from another users total 'karma' It can make the mods lives easier if someone is harassing other members and their 'karma' suddenly drops, a mod can check the persons posts, and if they are truly making a nusence of themselfs then action can be taken, usually without going over the whole board and constantly searching for 'bad' posts. Likewise if someone gets a very high karma and are popular with other member plus are putting in a lot of extra time helping they may be considered as a mod. Although no decisions will ever be made based on a users karma alone.

I like the system, it give everyone a little 'modding' power to some extent. Also it it not open to abuse as admins can see wether there is just one user picking on another user and detracting points deliberatley, also it is limited to only subtracting/adding one point per day.
