For me undergravel wroks real well at the moment.
When i get my new 4 foot planted out real well i might have to change to cannister, but until then undergravel for me.

I have never had much luck with them and usually use internal/external kit tank filters. they seem to work well once matured. Before that they are a real pest though. Very happy with the cannister on my 60 gal though.

Have always used internal powerhead and undergravel filters. In big tanks say 3 to 6 foot i used two powerheads plus a bio wheel for a while. When i set up another big tank i would try powerheads with undergravel and suppliment with either a biowheel or try an external cannister. U can never have too much filtration.

I probably use internal electric the most although they are very limited in capacity. Love the big cannisters though and hope to be able to afford a few ;D
P.S I have never used an undergravel. how do you go about cleaning without ripping up the whole theng?

i dont like undergravel filter. it DESTROYED my plants because i heard it absorbed the nutriants or something. anyway i like sponge for my fry tank and i use external for main tank. it des a very good job.

We use corner filters in all our tanks except in the tanks for fry, we use sponge filters in those as small fry can get stuck in a corner filter and die.

I like a nice strong internal in my community tank but prefer the sponges with my bettas .
I did have very small internals with the bettas but came home one day to find that one of my boys had flared near the intake and and the suction caused his tail to get stuck against the filter.
It shook him up a bit but he was alright still I took them out and put in sponges.
