For a small tank, a basic corner filter or small airator/internal filter is fine. filters with adjustable flow are best as they can be turned down for fry or the slower swimming fancies. Larger tanks are best supported with cannister biological filters, the bigger the better as this allows for the greatest biological filtration and in the end, the most fish.
