I have noticed a few problems with apple snails when keeping them in a community aquarium
A: They dont get food and starve to death within about a month, or begin trashing plants after about a week.
These snails need a HUGE amount of food to live. I have found the solution is to float them in a small container on their own and give them a nice mound of flake or pellets to feast on. They will eat the same as about 7-8 fish in one sitting. Do this about every 3-4 days and it keeps them very happy and out of the plants
