Tubifex is another nutritios high protein food enjoyed by guppies. Fish breeders in thailand usually use this food to raise large guppies rather than bloodworm, and with great success. The drawback of this food is that the worms are raised in some kind of effluent, be it from cow, pig, chicken fish or even human waste Human and fish possibly carring very harmful organisms to your fish or even you! It is vital then that you source your worms from 'clean' farmed worms. Freeze dried tubifex have undergone processing and will usually be free of harmful organisms. these are the alternative that most people use. Because the moisture has been removed they are also considered better value for money, although there is some debate about wether any nutrient is lost in the processing.

I've just bought 2 pouches of the freeze dried tubifex worms off ebay cyberguppy and have never used them before. Are these the white worms that are much smaller than bloodworm?.

they are a longer, thinner black worm (sold live as blackworm or tubifex). Freeze dried they are easy to crumble up and feed to fish, usually they come in cubes.
