I have been trying for months to get my little albino bristlenose to spawn with no luck. the male seems to hate whatever cave I give him and seems too lazy to dig his own. Today I came home from work to find he had knocked over a little easter island man-statue I had in the tank, and that he had taken up residence in its rear end that is hollow ;D I really hope he is not trying to tell me something about his tank!

he seems content and hasnt fanned his eggs out of the cave. BN's are weird when spawning. the whole process looks like a home-invasion where the female breaks into the guys cave (while he is trying his best to kick her out) she quickly lays eggs then leaves, leaving him to look after the kids. Female no.2 is also eyeing his cave. could be trouble!

a few days later, some of the eggs are developing well. didnt get my hopes up as a lot of firt BN spawns are sterile. the infertile eggs didnt fungus, they just went clear then burst. found the male removing them today. Only 11 days untill they leave the cave. Havnt been this excited about baby fish since buying my first pregnant guppy.

usually about 10-30 for the first spawns. they hatched today! I had a shock when I first looked in the nest and all the eggs were in bits, still stuck to the top of the cave, thought mr BN had a psycho moment and broke them all. All the fry were huddled in the back corner of the cave though. looks like there are about 10 or so. The Kittens look like egg sacks with little wriggling tails, will try and get a pic.
