I know everyone goes on and on bout how the Plastic box breeding trap stresses fish and is dangerous but Ive not had a problem with it....UNTIL NOW last night poor pearl went and got herself wedged in between the trap and the glass of my tank and passed away to be found by yours truely this morning. thankfully she will live on through her fry

awww, that's too bad I don't have one of those, but definitely won't get one now after hearing so many bad things about them.

I had the same thing happen with the first male Gup I bought. They wedge themselfs in between the glass and the trap, get their gills closed so they cannot breathe, 3 mins later, dead guppy!
The only thing I ever use them for is to keep fry untill they are a week old.
sorry about your loss.

sorry to hear about that... I used to have one of those traps years ago.... i used it to separate sick or injured fish when I didnt have a hospital tank...pointless really when you think about it as pathogens are waterborne and the other fish would get sick anyway... i did buy it originally to use for a pregnant guppy but she aborted and died..... anyway ..... sorry that you lost pearl.

I still use them to keep very small egglayer fry or a gup I want to keep an eye on for a day or two. I have accidently squished fish when moving it and not realising they were between the tank and the glass
