Brands hmmmmmmmmm heater: I use the ones from BigW...havent had a probem yet and they are CHEAP
Plants......plastic..also from Big W Melafix ..........Pet stock I have got Aqua one lights etc.........but I have found with them only THEIR replacements bulbs and things will work. They are a bit like HP in computers LOL..... I am actually investigating some canister filters at the moment................I will let you know the outcome One thing I have learned is that expensive is not always the best! I tend to buy more generic brands where replacement items are easier to obtain.

I am not really a brand person.... I tend to buy what I need when I need it and I trust my trusty aquarium man (he's very good!) when it comes to large purchases... I suppose I could vouch for Eheim as I still have my very first internal filter bought about 8 years ago and to this day (touch wood) have had no problems... must say though that we run it in conjunction with an undergravel filter in the particular tank it is in...so it probably isnt terribly overworked or anything... but I think that is a pretty good run.

there is a rippoff of aqua one called aqua-pro, nasty nasty stuff. had one aluminium reflector melt and short out and a whole tank setup (light, filter etc) break within 6 months.
