Making filters 'fry safe'
One of the worst problems with good filters is that of them always sucking up your fry, I find the best ways to stop this is either to buy a 'fry net' preferably a large one, and tie it either around the filter intake (with large filters) or possibly encasing the whole small filter, I find fry nets best as they have large enough holes to allow dirt particles to still be filtered. You can also use a piece of stocking or other netting but these will usually break down over time and need to be replaced.

I use a Sponge filter in my fry tank there are no holes so the fry dont get sucked up it breeds all sorts of good bacteria and a baby algae eater tends to help with any excess mess

Great idea, sponge filters and the old style corner filters are very fry-safe.
