Hi, just wanted some thoughts off others.....
my gups that went through possible nitrite poisoning a while back all seem healthy and happy but I notice that their tails seem almost translucent near the ends and some of them have darker edges for example my neon blue males tail seems to be quite a light blue then it starts to look a bit mottley towards the end and the rim of the tail is grey...(cant get a photo, hes too fast)... It wasnt always like this.... and my little pale yellow guys tails are looking a little transparent... you can sort of see through them which you could nt before... would this be a result of the poisoning...?
Is there something I can do to fix them.... they are otherwise healthy..... Its only a couple of them... my tuxedos have beautiful thick dark red tails as does my snakeskin ....
opinions or ideas appreciated......

if your water quality is good and the fish are acting/eating healthy then it may just be regrowth. this can appear translucent on light coloured fish and grey on dark coloured fish.. It seems to grow back a different colour then slowly change back to the origional colour. Just worry if the edge is bloodshot or shredded looking.

hmmm. i resently (yesterday) lost 5 fry out of 25 , they where 1 day old, in nitrite posening. the biolongical filter hadnt started up as i had thought so the nitrite was pretty high and it killed a few fry. i meved them back to my main tank and i keep them in the breeding box. everyne says breeding boxes are to small and i agree but some also say that it doesnt let water cycle through. well in this case you should consider getting a breeding box with a built in sponge filter. i use this to raise my fry in.

thanks for ideas.... I think i will try to get some shots... so that you can see what I mean...
the water quality is good... could it be a dietary thing..... I think it could be regrowth on a couple but a couple of them it doesnt look like that but they are not bloodshot I dont think... its hard to tell because the yellow gups have orange streaks in their tails naturally... I will have to get photos.... mmmmm
