my guppy was giving birth ok. it went well for about 4 fry then all of a sudden she gives birth to a fry that had opened up inside her rather then coming out like a ball and poping open. this has happened to be before and im sure its stressing for the female and the fry. but this time it was bad. she had a tail of a fry sticking out of her and she couldnt get it out the tail kept on goin back up all the way until it disapeared and came out again then up again. this continued for a while, but then 'POP' two tails where sticking out of her anus.it was getting worse , she couldnt get them out. Dont get me wrong , i love animals, if i caught a fly i would relese it not kill it, anyway i stuck my hand into her tank and gave her a little sqweeze, which was hard to do because my hands where shaking, alot. then just after my sqweezing two fry poped out. she continued to give birth normal and ended up with 12. That night i had trouble sleeping because i thought i did something cruel to an animal, what do you think?

I think you did her a favour, as she may have died with fry stuck inside her.... I wouldn't feel too bad, its very distressing watching an animal in distress and your first thought is to help.... I think I would have done the same thing... I lost a goldfish just this morning and took it to LFS to see if they could figure out what was wrong... turns out she was eggbound.... with a heap of underdeveloped eggs in her gut.... :-(

ohh ok. Now we now what to do in case something like what happend to my fish hapens to your fish. i dont think you should sqweeze to hard (obviusly) and you should try to keep the qweezing to a bare minimum. PS they are hard to catch with your fingers unless in a breeding trap , but they are also very slippery which makes it hard to sqweeze :/
