One of my females, who was treated for the camallanus and didnt appear to have it! Is now sick. Water prams... ammonia zero Nitrate 15 - 20 Nitrite Zero PH 7 Water changes are weekly with Wardley tristart and water conditioner. Plenty of airation and filter.
She has been hiding the last couple of days and not really eating, just picking now and again. I also noticed her gravid spot was an unusal color almost pinky red....which isnt like her, shes a half black blue and her spot ever since Ive had her has been dark to black. She was like this this morning with no visible signs of anything apart from the above. Tonight when I got home Holey Moley!! She has red marks, Patchy on her sides, almost looks like her scales are bleeding, Not a solid red mark almost like red ink seeping through fibers of a tissue. I cant see any risen scales, she looks a little bloated ( or preggers) I removed her into a hospital tank, did a water change and added an antibiotic. I dont know is this was correct, but the only other meds I have here is Malchite green and I really dont like that stuff. Its very harsh. None of the other fish show any of these symptoms. What have I got this time!!! On top of that one girl had fry and I had to chase them around the tank! Ive got nets going in and out of bleach, syphone, jugs AAGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

dont know if this will help actually it prob wont ive lost bout 15 females to exactly what your describing no idea what it is but i found it totally untreatable the pinky red under the scales is blood poisoning but by the time they get to this stage they are gonners. the pinky red gravid spot is a tumour or something of the sort sorry sweet but she prob wont make it. on the other hand if she does let me know how you saved her

I am not exactly sure what you have but I would seperate that female straight away if you haven't done that already.
Just add some salt to your tank as a precaution as oppose to other medication to start of to see if any other fish get effected.
Also I would recommend in the future if you see your fish acting up with unusual colouring seperate it straight away.
Because I ran so many tanks and have so many fish, it is more important for me to contain and eliminate any disease that appears, than trying to cure any fish that gets sick. So what I advice might not be the best way to go for you.
Generally female guppies will get sick more often than the males. This is generally because the female guppies get weak every time they give birth, so more prone to picking up disease.
Hope your fish gets better.

Sounds like a bacterial infection. You can occasionally save them by treating them separate, giving them clean water and a good dose of something like tetracyclene. I am guessing this is brought about by those nasty camallanus detaching from the inside of the fish and causing damage, which has then become infected. Bloating, red streaks, lethargy all point to an internal infection, possibly blood poisoning. all you can do is treat her and hope for the best really As far as contagious, it is only really a problem when water quality becomes bad. If your fish have clean water and are in good health, their immune system will make them resistant. only once water becomes poor, or the fish gets stressed from parasites, environment, bullying will they usually get sick. We never really get rid of 'bad bacteria' even by sterilising the tank as a lot of them will be re-introduced the second we add fish. Some, like fungus are even airbourne.

Thanks for all the help. Sadly she died last night. I was expecting this because of the dead worms inside the fish that you cant see. I hope thats the only one, but once those worms die inside there is nothing you can do except pray they poop them out. I know I tried my best and I guess thats all you can do. Thanks again

Well, 2 more died while I was at work. I lost 1 male and 1 female......I now expect to lose them all. ( No symptoms) Very very disappointing and very disheartening I check all water prams...its not the water All tanks are amm zero Nitrite 0 Nitrate 15 - 20 I even add a couple of extra drops of tristart in case there was more chrolrine / chrolramine added. Ive just worked a 12 hour day and really wasnt ready to see 2 more dead. Looks like the camallanus won after all

Sorry to hear that!!! Don't give up on the ones you still have left.... I know when I first got gups I bought 7 and lost 5 within the first week (very disheartening) but I managed to keep the other two alive and two fry that appeared and then I started to build up again...
Sometimes there is not much we can do.. ps unless they were your own babies it is also hard to know how old they were when you got them so they may have been nearing the end of their lifespan anyway and been weakened by age as well as worms.... dont give up... there are many gups out there that would kill to have a mum like you...

Thats very sweet of you to say, Thank you. It looks like Im losing the last one Im wondering if the double dose ( At seperate times) of Levamisol kicked their immune systems. I know it killed the worms there was no sign after the deaths and my husband did a thourough examination, I wont go into details. SIGH But on a positive note you all know my husband works for an aquariam distributor for pet stores (Fish ony) Tonight when I got home he said he had a suprise for me. Hes brought me 6 Pure Endler teenagers (All male) Hes had them at work in a quarantine tank for 3 weeks. They are so beautiful. I almost cried. They have gone into a freshly cycled tank that none of the camallanus infected fish had been in. In a way Im excited, well yes I am but also still sad at all the losses Ive had thanks to these worms. Thanks for all your support and listening to me ramble through all of this. You guys are all very much appreciated. (((((Hugs))))))
